Blocker's Tough Tales: Head to head with Paul Sironen

rugbyleaguelive.com | 30/09/08 | 0

Paul 'Sirro' Sironen now spends his days selling soft, sugary doughnuts with Krispy Kreme - but there was nothing sweet about how this hard-running back-rower destroyed defensive lines on the field of battle.

A rare one-club stalwart, Sironen was an integral member of the Tigers' golden era during the late 1980's and early 1990's - and starred in successive grand finals in '88 and '89.

His bruising exploits earned him a coveted Blues jersey, and even saw him represent Australia in the green and gold.

A former policeman, ‘Sirro’ played hard but fair - earning himself a reputation as a genuine good bloke. You couldn't crack his tough exterior on the field, but off the field - the man just has a heart of gold.

He's been a mate of Steve 'Blocker' Roach forever and, thanks to Holden Colorado, we catch up with them in their natural habitat.
