Williams to fill the hole left by Beaver

Manly mentor Des Hasler has backed new recruit Tony Williams to fill the hole left by departing legend Steve Menzies.

Williams, who debuted for Parramatta on the wing this year, is also a capable centre, back-rower or interchange player - a lot like Menzies.

Hasler believes Williams has all the ingredients to become an instant fan favourite at Brookvale.

"He has that X-factor and has so much potential," Hasler told News Limited.

"Tony can off-load and will be a real impact player. I reckon he can turn a match.

"He has versatility. That will benefit the side."

The man nicknamed T-Rex has already indicated a willingness to step straight into Menzies' sizeable boots.

"It's a good opportunity for me, to play where I want to play," Williams told News Limited.
